Great news for the thousands of people who attend the annual event, the millions who watch it, the PGA Tour, the State of South Carolina, the Lowcountry, and to the numerous charities
who have received approx.
$20 million dollars from this event since 1987.
Royal Bank of Canada is the new title sponor, and
The Boeing Co. is the new secondary sponsor.
Both companies agreed to fulfill this role for five years
through 2016.
2012 will also return The RBC Heritage Golf Tournament to its former timeframe, the week after the Masters (April 9 - 15).
2011 was played without a title sponsor after the Heritage foundation pledged all $ 4 million dollars of its' reserves and secured $1 million dollar commitments from both the
Town of Hilton Head Island and Beaufort County.
After two years of searching for sponsors this win for the State
of South Carolina was made possible through the efforts of
many including Governor Nikki Haley, the PGA Tour, our entire Congressional delegation and our local State delegation along
with the Town of Hilton Head Island and, of course,
RBC and Boeing.
The Town of Hilton Head Island voted to fill a gap in this complicated negotiation by agreeing to a five year
TV advertising buy of $3.2 million dollars which will be split between CBS and The Golf Channel.
